New faculty at Kapenguria Peace Academy

The Kapenguria Peace Academy teaches orphan, refugee, and local children at a residential campus in Kapenguria, Kenya, the County Seat for West Pokot County. Founded originally for orphans of the conflicts between tribes in North Kenya, the Academy now provides a safe school for children from conflict areas in East Africa.

Kakuma Refugee Camp Family Center

Families of International Refugee Olympic Team athletes participate in the in-camp center under UNHCR auspices. The Tegla Loroupe Peace Foundation sponsors educational material for the family members.


As the foundation worked over the years in refugee camps in Kenya to promote peace through sports , many talented athletes appeared in the camps, but had no options to further their careers.

The Tegla Loroupe Peace Race

The Tegla Loroupe Peace Race is an annual 10-kilometre road running event which takes place in November in Kapenguria, West Pokot County, Kenya. First held in 2003, the race was created by Kenyan runner Tegla Loroupe to bring together warriors of rival tribes to reduce conflict in the region.
